Privacy Policy.
Last updated:
United African Livestock Technologies Nigeria Ltd (“UALT Nigeria”, “we”, “us” or “our”) operates the United Nigeria Livestock Platform (UNLP) website at nigerialivestock.com and is the data controller for the personal information covered by this policy. We are registered in Nigeria with the Corporate Affairs Commission under RC 9886014. You can contact us about privacy at privacy@nigerialivestock.com.
This policy explains how we handle personal information when you visit the UNLP public website or contact us by email. It does not cover member registration or processing within the UNLP registry, which has its own privacy information.
Information we receive
When you email us. We receive your email address, your message and anything else you choose to include, such as your name or organisation. Please do not send identity documents, financial details or sensitive personal information through general enquiries.
When you browse the website. Our hosting provider processes technical information needed to deliver and protect the website, including your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you request and the time of your visit.
How we use it, and our lawful basis
| Purpose | Lawful basis |
|---|---|
| Replying to your enquiry and giving you the information you ask for | Our legitimate interest in responding to people who contact us, or steps you ask us to take before entering into an agreement |
| Running, maintaining and securing the website | Our legitimate interest in providing a secure, working website |
| Optional website analytics, if we introduce it | Your consent |
| Meeting legal obligations and establishing, exercising or defending legal claims | Legal obligation, or our legitimate interest in protecting our legal position |
Where we rely on legitimate interests, we do so only where those interests are not overridden by your rights and freedoms.
Cookies and analytics
The website uses your browser’s storage to remember your privacy choices. This is necessary for the Cookie Settings control to work and is not used to track you.
We do not currently use analytics or advertising cookies. If we introduce optional analytics, it will stay off unless you accept it in Cookie Settings, and rejecting it will not affect your use of the website. You can change your choice at any time in Cookie Settings. Withdrawing consent stops future analytics collection; it does not affect processing that took place lawfully before you withdrew.
Who we share it with
We use service providers for email and website hosting and security, and, if introduced, consent-based analytics. They receive only the information needed to provide their service and act under contracts that include data-protection obligations.
We may also disclose information where the law requires it or where it is necessary to establish, exercise or defend legal claims. We do not sell personal information.
International processing
Some of our service providers process information outside Nigeria. Where personal information is transferred out of Nigeria, we rely on the safeguards permitted by the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023, such as contractual protections. You can contact us for more information about transfers that affect your information.
How long we keep it
We keep general email enquiries for up to 90 days, unless a legal obligation or a legal claim requires us to keep them longer. If an enquiry becomes a separate service or business relationship, we will explain any further processing in the relevant notice or agreement.
Our hosting provider keeps technical logs for a limited period for security and troubleshooting.
Your rights
Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 you can ask us to:
- give you a copy of your personal information;
- correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete;
- delete your information;
- restrict how we use it;
- give you your information in a portable format.
You can also object to processing based on our legitimate interests, withdraw consent where we rely on it, and not be subject to a decision based solely on automated processing that significantly affects you. We do not make such decisions through this website.
To exercise your rights, email privacy@nigerialivestock.com. We may ask for proportionate information to confirm your identity before we respond, and we aim to respond within 30 days.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC) at https://ndpc.gov.ng/.
Protecting information
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal information against unauthorised access, loss, misuse or disclosure. No online service can guarantee absolute security.
Children
This website is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them through it.
Links to other websites
Websites we link to have their own privacy policies. Please read them before giving those sites personal information.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the website, our practices or the law change. The current version, with its date, will always be on this page.
